[PAGE 1] [Handwritten at top right: A-83-001-2-1] [Handwritten in blue: BL 11-23-70] Dear Mr. Tuck: I'm sorry that I cannot fill out the attached form since the times and dates of any sightings escape me. I can, however, tell you that during the years 1948 through 1951 several sightings of green lights were made at Los Alamos. These usually occured during the early part of the night, nine to eleven, and were usually in the Jemez Mountains. I can recall several instances of green lights weaving in and out of mountain peaks. This was all reported to the protective force headquarters and should be a matter of record on their logs. I also recall one instance of five objects flying over Los Alamos in the afternoon. They were flying from southeast to northwest and appeared to be flying in formation. I believe [redacted (b)(6)] of the Protective Force was one of the five or six people that [PAGE 2] sighted these objects. Another person you might check with is [redacted (b)(6)] of the protective force. Any of the Protective Force members that was on the "Hill" during the early '50 should recall all the reported sightings during this time. I'm sorry that I can't be of more help. I'm sure however, if you can obtain access to the pro force logs during the above periods that the information can be obtained as to time and dates of the green light sightings -- Good Luck. [redacted signature (b)(6)] [PAGE 3] [Typed at top left: P-DO] 16 December 1970. [redacted addressee (b)(6)] U. S. Army Engineering School, Fort Belvoir, Virginia 22060. Attention: Department of Mechanical and Technical Equipment. Dear [redacted (b)(6)]: As agreed in our telephone conversation of today's date, I would like to have the recipe that was used for the simulated atomic bomb demonstrations. We are interested in the large atmospheric vortices which are produced as reported in the book "Scientific Study of Unidentified Flying Objects" by Dr. Edward U. Condon. Yours sincerely, James L. Tuck. JLT:gaa [PAGE 4] November 28. Dear Jim: Mindful of your interesting report on ball lightning, I am enclosing comments on same by a UFO believer, James M. McCampbell, in his UFOLOGY, 1976, appearing on the new non-fiction shelf at the Mesa Library, call number 629.1338 M125u. His chapter FLIGHT AND PROPULSION strengthens my conviction that Einstein, while seemingly straying from the main current of physical research in his later years, was on scent like a bloodhound when he persisted in trying to lock in on a unified field theory. Regards, [redacted signature (b)(6)]
