Official description

This document is an FBI FD-302, a form the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) uses to record interviews. This FD-302 records a 2026 telephonic interview with a U.S. person, in which the interviewee describes two incidents potentially involving unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) in the western United States in 2026. A second individual who was present during the incidents at the time also provided an interview, recorded in this collection as “FBI-UAP-D037.” Two FBI digital renderings based upon the observers’ descriptions accompany this document, under the titles FBI-UAP-D041 and FBI-UAP-D042.

AI summary

A 2-page FD-302 documenting a telephonic FBI interview of a redacted witness concerning events on a redacted date in 2026. While driving north for area reconnaissance after waiting out heavy rain at a gate, the witness noticed a red light at the crest of a mountain range to the west after roughly 25 miles, initially appearing stationary before moving east; based on the roughly 5,000-foot mountain range and a 7,000-foot cloud ceiling, the witness estimated the light's altitude at 5,000-7,000 feet AGL. About 15 minutes later, six to ten additional lights appeared overhead and "synced up" with the first, all moving east-southeast; one descended rapidly before disappearing, and the rest continued and vanished. The lights appeared red, but through NODs, especially when squinting, each resolved into a cluster of three lights in a triangular or diamond pattern moving in tandem, as if attached to a single object; cloud cover was heavy enough that no stars were visible. Later, around 11:50 p.m., two ground-level lights appeared to the east, visible only via NODs, converging to within 200-300 meters, and a fast-moving streak with a visible "light tail" was seen emerging from a defilade before fading. Attempts to drive toward the lights were unsuccessful. As in a related report, the witness's analog watch was found running 25 minutes fast relative to phones and the vehicle clock; no physiological effects were reported. The document contains no FBI recommendations or conclusions.

Initially, | .—Ssé‘Cz”Y thought the light was something on the mountain, but it began to move to the east. Fo stated that each “cluster” of the three lights moved in tandem and never separated, as if all three lights were attached to the same object. PF also noted that the cloud cover was heavy at this time, to the point that no stars were visible. At approximately 2350 a, PF witnessed two lights on or close to the ground to their east, which were only visible using NODs. One of lights moved west toward their position and the second, which was south of the first, moved north and stopped in the vicinity of the first light. Both lights appeared to stop approximately 200-300 meters from their position. As watched these lights to his east, he saw a rapidly moving streak of light on the periphery of his vision. GE described it as analogous to how a sparkler or flashlight looks at night if someone moves it quickly, where the “light tail” is visible behind the light source. Fo turned to look at the source, but was only able to see a bright hue of light emitting from the vicinity, as the source was in a defilade. The hue moved north, following the defilade until it faded out or disappeared. The lights to their east also disappeared. PO then got into their vehicle and attempted to drive east to the vicinity of their observations but were unsuccessful. They then returned to their original position, parked and exited the vehicle. After some time, iz walked back to the truck to check his phone and give his eyes a break. JJ then asked PY what time he had and relayed that his watch was 25 minutes fast. Fo was wearing a digital PF watch, which displayed the same time as their cell phones and the vehicle clock. JANN s watch was the only analog/non-digital clock and was the only clock that was different. Fs relayed that he had known | for years and described him as “squared away.” Having an inaccurate watch or faulty gear was not something he would let happen. Moreover, had been looking at his watch throughout that day/night and it had been accurate up to that point. fF stated he did not have any physiological reactions/effects during or after the above-described events.
