Release 7: the 2026 triangle, the Utah ranch and 1950s Air Force reports

On October 23, 2026 the U.S. Department of War published the seventh batch (Release 7) of the PURSUE program: 28 files, all PDF documents. They take the archive from 450 to 478 files.

The release falls into five blocks: two 2026 accounts of a triangular object in the western United States, nine more documents from AAWSAP and its contractor BAASS, ten Air Force reports from the 1950s, four cases from Catalina Island (California) and three administrative files with no sightings.

A black triangle in 2026: AARO and the FBI

These are the most recent documents in the whole archive. An AARO memorandum (D176) records the debrief of federal agents who, from an observation post at a sensitive national security site in the western U.S., saw a matte black, non-reflective triangular object with an estimated wingspan of 13 to 15 feet. According to the memo it rose vertically for about ten seconds, hovered for about twenty and then went into fast horizontal flight before descending into a canyon; no sound was heard and a ground search the next morning found no debris.

An FBI FD-302 form (FBI-D043) records an account by special agents with the same triangular shape, a uniform thermal signature and nine dusk photographs. The official description of the memo says AARO considers the case to warrant further investigation because it resembles other incidents reported in the region. Neither document reaches a conclusion about what the object was.

Nine more AAWSAP and BAASS documents (2008–2010)

The release extends the file on AAWSAP, the DIA program that already filled 44 files of Release 6. This time the documents come from its contractor, Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies (BAASS): the December 2008 project management plan (D168), four monthly reports from 2009 (D169, D170, D171 and D173), the "Project Capella" database proposal (D167), concept papers by MUFON (D166) and a 2010 self-assessment that includes simulations of the 2004 "Tic Tac" incident (D175).

The most striking is the April 2010 "Utah Ranch" report (D174): it collects residents' accounts of "dog-like" bipedal creatures, orbs of light and "little people", and a laboratory analysis of hair collected from a fence that found a canine sequence common in domestic dogs. These are witness accounts recorded by the contractor, not confirmed findings.

Ten Air Force reports from the 1950s

These are air intelligence reports from 1952 to 1957, sent from around the world. They include a radar return picked up by a B-52 over Saudi Arabia in 1957 (D155), an F-86D pilot who chased a light over Guam (D156) —the investigation found a lighted weather balloon launched that night—, a sphere seen over Sardinia in 1952 (D157) and a "saucer" reported by a Swedish airline pilot (D163).

Several end with conventional explanations or no conclusion: the returns over French Morocco are attributed to anomalous propagation, jamming or birds (D160), and the two Alaska lights are treated as possible human sources rather than aerial objects (D161, D162). In the Canada report (D158), two airmen guarding a B-29 saw a light come down to about 150 feet above the ground; the preparing officer left the cause as unknown.

Four Catalina Island cases (1949–1955)

Four files concern Catalina Island, off Los Angeles: three Boy Scouts who saw a silver object in 1952 (D179), a light that, according to Griffith Observatory astronomers quoted in the message, was possibly a planet (D178), a probable meteor in 1955 (D177) and a 1949 handwritten letter to Kenneth Arnold (D181): its writer says his wife and a school teacher saw six objects flying singly and that, minutes later, his family saw four more. The Air Force filed this last one as "insufficient data".

Space debris and the McCoy file: no sightings

The last block contains no sightings: correspondence from 1962 to 1964 on how to handle space-vehicle debris that falls to Earth (USG-D002), a 1963 memo on recovering those fragments (EOP-D002) and the personnel record of Colonel Howard M. McCoy (D180). The official description links McCoy to Projects SIGN and GRUDGE, although the record itself does not mention UFOs.

How to read this release: the official descriptions warn that all descriptive and estimative language in each report reflects the reporter's subjective interpretation and should not be taken as proof of the object's features. A case remaining unresolved does not mean AARO confirms anything extraordinary. Names in the summaries are those that appear in the declassified documents.

Frequently asked questions

What is Release 7 of the Pentagon UFO files?

It is the seventh batch of the PURSUE program, published on October 23, 2026 by the U.S. Department of War at war.gov/ufo. It contains 28 files, all PDF documents, and takes the archive from 450 to 478 files.

What is the 2026 triangle in Release 7?

Two documents describe a matte black triangular object seen in 2026 at a sensitive national security site in the western United States: an AARO memorandum (D176) and an FBI FD-302 form (FBI-D043). The witnesses describe it rising vertically, hovering and then descending into a canyon without sound. AARO considers the case to warrant further investigation; neither document reaches a conclusion.

What do the AAWSAP and BAASS documents in this release contain?

Nine records from BAASS, the contractor of the DIA's AAWSAP program, from 2008 to 2010: the project management plan, monthly reports, a database proposal, MUFON concept papers, a self-assessment with "Tic Tac" simulations and the "Utah Ranch" report (D174), which collects witness accounts of creatures and orbs of light. These are the contractor's records and witness claims, not confirmed findings.

Does the Pentagon confirm they are alien craft?

No. The official descriptions state that all descriptive and estimative language in each report reflects the reporter's subjective interpretation and should not be taken as a conclusive indication of the object's features. Several 1950s reports in this release end with conventional explanations, such as a weather balloon, a meteor or birds.

Where are the original files?

They are published by the U.S. Department of War at war.gov/ufo. UAP Browser is an independent, non-governmental archive: each file in this release links to the original on the official server.
