Release report

Release 6: the AAWSAP papers, the Colorado police videos and the Tremonton film

On September 18, 2026, the U.S. Department of War published the sixth batch (Release 6) of the PURSUE program: 75 files, including 59 documents, 15 videos and one audio recording. They take the archive from 375 to 450 files. A few days after publication, war.gov expanded the release with three more transcripts (LLE-UAP-D002, D003 and D004).

More than half of the release (44 files) are not sightings: they are the administrative and technical record of AAWSAP, a Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) program. The rest falls into three blocks: the first appearance of local police as a source in the archive, 16 military sensor files from 2022 to 2025, and the 1952 Tremonton case.

44 AAWSAP documents, the DIA program (2008–2012)

The Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program was administered by the DIA. Its official scope set out 12 technical areas on potential aerospace threats over a horizon of more than 40 years. The release includes its July 2008 Statement of Objectives (D110), the original September 2008 contract with Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies (BAASS) (D111) and five contract modifications from 2009–2010 (D112–D116).

The other 37 files are DIRD technical reports written between 2009 and 2011, out of the 38 the program produced. Topics include warp propulsion and dark energy (D138), traversable wormholes (D139), antigravity (D135), invisibility cloaking (D122), the Drake equation (D127) and anomalous field effects on human tissue (D128). According to the official description, DIRDs are reference and synthesis documents rather than original research, and their release does not imply the concepts have been validated.

Colorado police: the archive's first law-enforcement source

This is the first time the archive includes reports from local police. There are four cellphone videos recorded by officers in Colorado between October 2023 and January 2024 (PR001–PR004). AARO removed their audio for privacy and published what was said in each as four separate redacted transcripts (D001–D004). On this site those transcripts appear as synchronized subtitles under each video.

The longest, 15 minutes long (D002), records an officer saying it is "the second night in a row" and that the night before one of these objects "shined a very bright red and blue beam" into their patrol vehicle. The officer describes an orb gaining altitude, flying "in triangular motions" and finally moving closer. In the January 2, 2024 transcript (D004) the officer reports an orb about 300 feet off the ground, says they checked radar and there was no aircraft in the area, and that it had been stationary for about 15 minutes.

Military sensors: the Middle East and the China seas (2022–2025)

Ten infrared videos recorded from U.S. military platforms: four in the Middle East (2022 and 2025), five over the Yellow Sea and one over the East China Sea (2023). All were published as "Unresolved UAP Report" (for example PR143 and PR144).

From Iraq in 2022 come two infrared stills (PR130 and PR131) with their mission report (D106). In it an operator describes objects "flying sporadically… at various speeds between 80 and 180 miles per hour" and estimated to be 1 to 2 meters in size. Three more mission reports (D107–D109) document sorties in the Middle East in 2022 and 2025.

1952: the Tremonton film and Ruppelt's briefing

On July 2, 1952, near Tremonton, Utah, Navy photographer Delbert C. Newhouse filmed a group of bright objects in the sky on 16 mm (PR159). The Project Blue Book file (D102) assesses him as an honest and reliable witness, but the film's limited detail and lack of reference points prevented a conclusion. A curiosity: from the 55-second mark the film switches to unrelated footage of a sewing-equipment demonstration. The photo file (D103) and Newhouse's personnel record (D104) complete the case. The same file (D105) also covers the film of the Great Falls, Montana sighting of August 15, 1950, taken by Nicholas Mariana (the Mariana film).

From March 1952 comes Captain Edward J. Ruppelt's briefing on the Air Force's reorganized investigation, soon to be named Project Blue Book. It is published as a transcript (D154) and as audio (PR160), the latter with synchronized subtitles in six languages. Ruppelt explains that of roughly 800 historical cases reviewed, about 20% remained unexplained, and that reports clustered near sites such as Los Alamos, Albuquerque and Oak Ridge. The release also includes a 1952 Air Force "flying discs" file (D105). The Tremonton file (D102) includes correspondence addressed to Maj. Dewey J. Fournet of Air Force Intelligence and press clippings about Donald E. Keyhoe, whose 1953 book claimed the Air Force held films proving the objects were interplanetary craft; in the briefing, Ruppelt names the astronomer J. A. Hynek among the consultants and says the Air Force cannot back up books such as Keyhoe's.

How to read this release: the military and police videos are titled "Unresolved UAP Report". AARO not having resolved them does not mean it confirms anything extraordinary, and AARO notes that all descriptive language reflects the reporter's subjective interpretation. The title and transcript of LLE-UAP-PR004 place the case on January 2, 2024, while the official record keeps October 2023 as the incident date. This site's summaries are AI-generated from the documents and reviewed under the policy on the methodology page.

Frequently asked questions

What is Release 6 of the Pentagon UFO files?

It is the sixth batch of the PURSUE program, published on September 18, 2026 by the U.S. Department of War at war.gov/ufo. It contains 75 files (59 documents, 15 videos and one audio recording) and takes the archive from 375 to 450 files.

What is AAWSAP and why does it account for 44 files in this release?

The Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program was a Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) program that ran from 2008 to 2012. The release includes its Statement of Objectives (D110), the BAASS contract (D111), five contract modifications and 37 DIRD technical reports. They are not sightings but the program's own records.

What do the Colorado police videos show?

They are four cellphone videos recorded by officers in Colorado between October 2023 and January 2024 (PR001–PR004). AARO removed their audio for privacy and published what was said in four redacted transcripts (D001–D004), which this site shows as subtitles under each video.

Does the Pentagon confirm these are alien craft?

No. The military and police videos are titled "Unresolved UAP Report", which only means AARO has not resolved them. AARO notes that the descriptive language in each report reflects the reporter's subjective interpretation.

Where are the original files?

The U.S. Department of War publishes them at war.gov/ufo. UAP Browser is an independent, non-governmental archive: every file page in this release links to the original on the official server.

What is the Tremonton UFO film of 1952?

It is a 16 mm film shot on July 2, 1952 near Tremonton, Utah by Navy photographer Delbert C. Newhouse, showing a group of bright objects. The Project Blue Book file (D102) rates him an honest and reliable witness but says the film's limited detail prevented a conclusion. The release also includes the photo file (D103) and Newhouse's personnel record (D104).
